The three items of “Stopping climate change,” “Working towards a recycling-based society” and “Managing chemical substances” have been defined as the basic direction of the environmental management of the Kubota Group as it aims to construct a sustainable society where the environment and the economy are in harmony. As a foundation to those efforts, we are working to enhance our “environmental management system” and “environmental communication.”
The Tochigi Plant enthusiastically pursues environmental conservation activities. In those activities, a particular effort is made for the reduction of waste materials, with thorough sorting and management performed to recycle resources wherever possible. As shown in the photograph, the areas of the waste material storage site are clearly marked and measures such as displaying the layout drawing for the waste material station help create waste material sorting and storage that is easy for the employees to understand.
As environmentally conscious activities for our products, our company sets achievement targets in the five sectors below for each individual product and works to develop “environmentally conscious products.”
At the design and development stage, we evaluate the impact that our products will have on the environment throughout the product lifecycle. In order to minimize the environmental load, we have established a rule that we must implement product environmental assessments and perform environmentally-friendly design. For AHU, we make an effort to achieve product weight reduction, a reduction in the number of components, the utilization of renewable resources, and the reduced use of rare materials.
When AHU is evaluated using the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) method, it can be seen that 99% of their resource consumption occurs during the stage of use. This is because the products have a long service life and are operated for long hours. We approach our product development with the conviction that energy-saving products can make the greatest contribution to the reduction of the environmental load.
We also supply AHU that completely clear the requirements of the RoHS Directive. In addition, the Tochigi Plant acquired ISO 14001 certification in 2004 and works based on a management program to set targets and follow the PDCA cycle to reduce its environmental load.
We aim for the reduction and recycling of waste materials and make an effort to achieve product weight reduction, a reduction in the number of components, the utilization of renewable resources, and the reduced use of rare materials.
Our electro deposition painting is an effective countermeasure to sick house problems (indoor air pollution). The paint used is also completely lead free. For noise, we use the acoustical testing equipment at our Technical Center to work for reduction.
